How does Clovi calculate eGFR?
Clovi’s calculated eGFR uses the CKD-EPI creatinine equation (2021), the race-free formula recommended by the National Kidney Foundation and NIDDK for adults.
Inputs
- Serum creatinine (mg/dL)
- Age (years at the time of measurement)
- Sex (male or female)
Race is not an input. Sex must be male or female; otherwise calculated eGFR is left blank.
Formula
eGFRcr = 142 × min(Scr/κ, 1)^α × max(Scr/κ, 1)^-1.200 × 0.9938^Age × 1.012 [if female]
- κ = 0.7 (female) or 0.9 (male)
- α = -0.241 (female) or -0.302 (male)
Results are reported in mL/min/1.73m² and rounded to the nearest integer.
Customer-facing summary
Clovi’s GFR estimate depends on serum creatinine, age, and sex—not creatinine alone. Higher creatinine generally yields a lower eGFR.
